This was the best experience I’ve had shopping for footwear- it’s not even close. I recently got a surgery on my foot, and had to wear a boot for six weeks. When I finally got the clear to take the boot off, my doctor and several of the nurses recommended Hokkas and Brooks shoes. Since this is one of the retailers in San Angelo that carries them, we stopped by Happy Trails.
Kail helped me figure out which brand best suited my needs not only for post surgery, but for comfort and gait. He will probably forget more about all of these shoes and about how people run/walk than the rest of us will learn. He was patient and personable when letting me work my way up several sizes until it wasn’t painful to wear the shoe. Additionally, he was kind and patient with my small daughter who was shopping with me. I will definitely be coming back for another pair when I’m ready to do more than just walk because Kail clearly knows exactly what to recommend based on activity and foot-specific need.
If you’re an athlete or have had surgery that affects the way you walk, then you’ve got to go through here. I’ll never buy athletic shoes anywhere else, if I can help it. Thank you so much, Kail!!!

Visit was Quick and simple. The sales associates were friendly and helpful. My only complaint is they close at 6, daily. But if I were local to San Angelo that would not be a problem.

My wife and I remember Happy Trails when they first opened. We moved away for a while and recently came back to San Angelo. I wanted to go back since it has been several years. We popped in a couple of evenings ago to see if it was still the same as it was. For the most part it was until I went to go pay. The previous owners used to give military AND veteran discounts. Now it is only active duty. This, I feel, is very disrespectful. It says to a disabled veteran that you and your sacrifices didn't matter, but if you are in right now you matter. I know this is trivial, but the majority of small businesses support veterans and what we've been through. I just wish the new owners did the same.

Absolutely will not be back. We spent $172 on a jacket that was marked $149. After looking at the receipt we realized they had charged us $159 for the jacket. We took it back inside wanting a $10 refund. They said it was an easy fix but looked online at the retailers price beforehand which was $159. They refused to refund us despite it being their mistake. Aside from that their employees don’t know much about their products and their selection is never really good. No worries I’ll just buy the jacket from Prana.

I decided to visit Happy Trails to look for a new pair of hiking shoes, and while they had a nice selection, I didn't find a brand that I was familiar with or a suitable price. The staff was friendly enough. and they had a nice inventory of pretty much everything you would need. including Osprey packs, just not the one I was looking for. So, I think I'm going to stay with REI for my outdoor needs.

Happy trails went out of their way to find the exact kayak that I was looking for. They even went and picked it up and brought it back to their store for me. I will be picking it up on September the fifth. Their customer service is beyond the five-star limit. Not to mention all the goodies they have in stock at the store. Top quality merchandise, super friendly staff and knowledgeable salespersons.

This is where I buy my Hoka shoes. I wish they had more variety in colors, but they are a small business. Update: BIG SALE this weekend!!
